Kirkwood Spring Skiing

This weekend, I went skiing at Kirkwood. We stayed at our friends ski house. On Wednesday, my mom and her friends drove up. On Friday, my dad dropped me of at our friends office then I went up. We got to Kirkwood at 10:15.

On Saturday, we went skiing. It was a warm 60 F. We started skiing at about 10:45. The snow was slushy and wet. I wore my t-shirt and the only line we had to wait in was the rental line.

After skiing, we went into the hot tub and played hide-and-go-seek in the whole hotel.

Me on the right and my friend on the left.
Today, my mom and I drove home. When we left Kirkwood, it was about 65 F. When we got to the central valley, it was 80 F. We stopped at a strawberry stand and a market. We made it home in 3 hours.

New Trees

Yesterday, we bought a peach tree and a plum tree. We put them on the wasteland next to our back driveway.

Last summer, I put in sprinklers planning on putting trees there and finally we put trees there. Today, we put a brick border along the driveway, planted small shrubs, and of course the chicken fence to protect our investment.

In the future we plan to put a small brick patio at the end for a potted plant.

Skiing Kirkwood

Last weekend, friends of our invited us to spend the weekend at their ski house at Kirkwood. They have two kids that are friends of mine. We drove up friday and skied saturday, Sunday and Monday, then drove back monday.

We mostly skied blues and blacks (diamonds). We could also walk from the apartment directly to the lifts (what a concept). Sunday was the biggest ski day at Kirkwood. It was reported that over 7,000 people were on the slopes that day. That day, there were also many power outages for the Kirkwood valley. One time, we were waiting on the chair lift for 15 minutes.

Each day after skiing, we played hide and go seek, in the entire hotel.

On Sunday, we ate dinner at the Kirkwood inn. Then, on Monday we explored a small cave in a ditch, then drove all the back.

New Computer

For christmas, I received a new macbook pro. I have been wanting one ever since I heard about them. This one has a 15in. screen, a 2.2 GHz intel i7 processor, 4 Gb of ram, and a thing which tells time.

Also, I made a video of one of a swim meet that I was part about a year ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olN_LcWm6Wk&context=C3674293ADOEgsToPDskJJYH605eftB8Tegth5kVR6

Kitchen Facelift

We are tired of our old ugly kitchen. We want to get new counter tops and paint the old dated cabinets.

Within the past week, my mom has taken all the cabinet doors off of our cabinets and today the painters came to paint the doors. They are going to be a white cream color. But, we haven't yet decided on the counter tops. Last Thursday the tile guy came, he told us that we should not use tile, but a slab. Now we are looking at slabs. We are trying to do it as cheaply as possible.

Zipping over San Fransisco

Yesterday, my dad and I went to San Francisco to go bike riding. We parked at 35th Ave and Taraval St. We went up Taraval St then down Dewey Blvd. Then, we turned right on Woodside Ave then, merged on to Portola Dr. Portola Dr. was all downhill and at the bottom of the hill it turned into Market St. When we finally got to the ferry building we parked the bikes and went inside because my dad had never been inside. While inside we had a couple oysters. When we came to get the bikes we noticed that there was a zip line setup over the plaza. We had to go check it out. It was $ 29 dollars a person but we did it anyway. It was so fun. when we got on our bikes again he headed up to Broadway St on the way to House of Nanking (a restaurant). When we were done having lunch, we started head back to the car. We passed through Pacific Heights (it was mostly uphill), we went passed Alta Plaza, we went down Geary Blvd., we went through Golden Gate Park, down through the Sunset district, and finally we got to the car. It was an 18 mile bike ride.

Last full day in Oregon

Today, I woke up at 10:00 AM and we packed up the car to go to the hills, via my uncle's and my cousin's mom. When we had everybody, we drove towards my uncle's favorite swimming hole, but e encountered a road closure 10 miles from it. We turned around and found a park on the creek instead. When we got to the park, we immediately got in the water. It was cold at first, but it warmed up. It tried to pan for gold, but I wasn't in the right place. We also tried to catch crayfish, but we weren't in the right place for that either. Then, we had a picnic lunch then, swam for a few more hours. When we got back to my uncle's house, I took a shower, then, put my shoes on the roof of his car so I wouldn't forget them. Then, we left, when we got about half way to my grandparent's, we heard the person behind us honk. It was because one of my shoes had fallen of the roof of the car. My uncle went and got the one that flew off and the other one was still up there. Then, I realized that I also forgot my bathing suit at my uncle's also. When we got to my grandparent I tried hooking up rabbit ears to the T.V. again, but this time I called directv they said that I could plug the rabbit ears into the DVR and could use the rabbit ears to get local channels and record them. They were wrong, plus my grandpa didn't want them. After dinner we had homemade raspberry ice cream and my cousin is staying the night.

Sixth Day in Oregon

Today, I got up and made scrambled eggs and played flight simulator. Then, at 10:30 AM, we had to leave to drop my cousin's friend of at her house and my cousin at her mom's house. Then, my uncle and I continued on to my grandparent's house. Then, we went out to sushi. After sushi, we went out on the boat. I got a lot of air on the inner tube. Maybe 2 feet. Then, we "had" to go to my cousin's riding lesson to watch he jump. Meanwhile, my uncle was dropping of the boat and getting some rabbit ears for the T.V. When I got home I tried out the rabbit ears and the picture quality was excellent. Then, I tried to put it up in the attic but I didn't want to crawl.

Fifth Day in Oregon

Yesterday, we went to a parade that my cousin was in, then, we went to my uncle's house to celebrate my cousin's birthday. We broke a pinata and watched the Munsters. When everybody left, we had a bond fire and watched a very funny movie called, "Kong Pow". Plus, we played a couple games of pool.
