The Mission District is a Dump: Trip to San Francisco

Last week my grandparents were visiting so I planned a trip to San Francisco by public transportation. We had to get up at 8:00 AM to catch a train at Diridon Station at 9:04 AM to go to Millbrae Bart terminal. we arrived at Millbrae at 8:45 AM. We transfered to BART to go to sixteenth and Mission BART.Our first stop was Mission Dolores in the Mission District. I must admit the Mission had a nice cemetery but the Mission District is a dump! We got back on BART to Powell St station there we walked a block past the turntable to wait for the Cable Car, we got off at Jackson St. Our second stop was lunch. We had dim sum at New Asia on Pacific Ave and Grant Ave in Chinatown. Third stop is a deli to get duck for dinner (the head is included) and you get to see them chop it up. Our fourth stop would had been to Golden Gate bakery on Grant Ave to get desert, but they were closed and we had enough time so we walked down to the Ferry Building to get bread at Acme Bread Co (I know the owner) and look at shops. We took the F line to Powell because our BART tickets were charged to Powell. We got back on the train in Milbrae and I made a big mistake there. I though the train left Millbrae at 4:27 PM but really it left San Francisco at 4:27. It really left Millbrae at 4:56 PM. Then we had a delay in Palo Alto because a plane crashed in East Palo Alto (not a nice city) and hit a main power line. Then we finally got home.

Another Unexpected Adventure

Today, my dad and I went to some home improvement stores such as Southern Lumber and Home depot. We were looking for sheds to transform into a chicken coop. But we had a major setback, when we pulled into Home Depots parking lot our brakes started malfunctioning (it was scary!). It sounded like metal against metal and a lot of grinding. When we got home, we called Toyota and they said that we could drop of the car today, so we did. Then we put the bikes in the back of the car and I discussed transit options because I didn't want to ride that far. Minutes later my mom looked at the vehicle she said "you can't drive this! You better call a tow truck." so we did. It is amazing how strong those trucks are! We rode in the cab. When we got to Toyota we wanted to look at three cars: Toyota Tundra, 4 runner, and the Sequoia. They were pretty nice. then we rode the bikes down the street and got on the light rail towards Santa Teresa, we got off at Santa Clara then we rode home. One hour later we got a call from Toyota saying it was missing bolt in the breaking system and it was fixed then we all drove up and picked it up. That was a totally unexpected day!

Skiing the 14-15 of February

Saturday afternoon my dad and I loaded up the car and drove up hwy 50. We stayed at Strawberry Lodge. We played pool all night. We got up Sunday morning drove over the pass and descended into South Lake Tahoe on the California and Nevada border. We skied at Heavenly Valley. We crossed the border from Nevada to California. We skied black diamonds through the trees, lots of terrain park - medium and large and skied with my dad's boss for three runs. That night at the lodge in the bar I learned how to play dice- 1,4,24. The next day we skied at Sierra at Tahoe which is much smaller than Heavenly Valley. We stayed mostly on blues. Then later that day we headed down hwy 50 for home.
